During his illness Chris was treated in Weston Park Hospital and St. Lukes Hospice, both based in Sheffield.

Weston Park was where Chris underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and series of operations. St. Lukes offered Chris sanctuary when he needed support to recover from his multiple treatments. In both of these Chris found endless support from the medical experts and support staff, they put him at ease and offered comfort when he needed it most.

St Luke's Hospice

St Luke's, Sheffield's only Hospice, opened in 1971 and serves the whole community of Sheffield. Although St Luke's cares for seriously ill people and their families, it is more about living than dying. A quarter of their in-patients are discharged after treatment and many attend day care centres for years.

Their main aim is to give excellent specialist care, which involves physical, psychological, social and spiritual care for patients and their relatives. Day-to-day personal care, such as making sure the food is appetising and the tea is hot, is also vitally important and the staffing they provide enables all our patients to receive the excellent individual care that makes a Hospice such as St Luke's so unique and valuable.

Weston Park Hospital

Weston Park Hospital is part of the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The hospital specialises in the treatment of cancer and is one of three purpose built specialist cancer (or oncology) hospitals in the United Kingdom.
In April 1995, Weston Park was designated a cancer centre and the surrounding district hospitals became cancer units. Today, Weston Park hospital is a world leader in cancer research and provides many specialist services that are only available in a few places across the country.
